What data we store

• Account: name, @username, email and password (the password is stored encrypted).

• Profile: profile picture, cover photo and your favorite brewing method, coffee and roast, if you fill them in.

• What you post: posts, photos, captions, comments, likes, visited cafés, "want to try" list, ranking, cafés you add and café details you fill in.

• Messages: what you send and receive in the chat (texts and shared posts or cafés). Only the people in the conversation can see them.

• Who you follow, who you have blocked and the reports you make.

Location

We only use your location while the app is open, to show cafés and posts near you. It is not stored in your account. To search for cafés, the map area (approximate coordinates, rounded to about 100 meters) is sent to our database and to public OpenStreetMap servers: overpass-api.de, overpass.private.coffee and overpass.kumi.systems (café search) and tile.openstreetmap.org and tile.openstreetmap.fr (map drawing on Android and in the browser). These requests do not include your name, email or any other account data but, as with any internet request, these servers receive your phone's IP address. What is saved is the location of the cafés where you post or that you mark.

Photos

The app only accesses the photos you choose (or take on the spot) to post or to use as your profile picture and cover. Published photos, your profile picture and your cover are visible to other people on the app.

Who sees what

Your name, @username, profile picture and cover, coffee profile, posts, comments, ranking and number of visited cafés are public within the app. Chat messages are only shown to the people in the conversation. Your email is never shown to other people.

Statistics and moderation

The CAFEED team sees usage numbers in the admin panel (how many people use the app, posts per day, each account's last access) to improve the app and look after the community. We do not use this data for ads or share it with partner cafés. When we review a report, we may read the reported content, including a reported message. Content removed by moderation is kept for up to 90 days (to review the decision or meet legal requests) and then permanently deleted. When an account is banned, we keep its email to prevent a new account.

Where the data is kept

Data is stored on Supabase (a database service). We do not sell your data. Partner cafés may have sponsored content in the app, always labelled "Sponsored", but they do not receive your personal data. Address lookup by postal code (CEP) uses ViaCEP, which only receives the code you type. When you add a café from the map, your phone's own address service (Apple or Google) receives the chosen point to suggest the street. The "Directions" and "View on Google Maps" buttons open Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze with the café's location and name; from then on, that app's privacy policy applies. App updates are delivered by Expo's service.

The CAFEED website and contact form

On the website, people who use the contact form provide their name, email, subject and message. Cafés also provide the café name, city, state and phone number, and, if they want, the website and Instagram. We only use this to reply and, for cafés, to talk about partnerships. The form goes through FormSubmit, a form service that delivers the message to our email. The website does not use cookies or tracking tools, and its fonts and images are hosted on the site itself.

CAFEED in the browser

CAFEED also works in the browser, at www.cafeedclub.com/app, with the same account and the same rules as the app. To keep you signed in, the browser stores your sign-in and a few preferences (language, Latte or Espresso mode and whether you have seen the tour) in the storage of your own device, with no tracking cookies. When you tap Sign out, the stored sign-in is erased. The camera and location are only used if you allow them in the browser: the camera to take the photo for a post, profile picture or cover, and location to show cafés near you. The camera image is not recorded or sent; only the photo you choose to post reaches CAFEED, and it is made smaller on your own device before it is sent. The map library is hosted on our own website; the street map comes from OpenStreetMap, as on Android.

Your rights (LGPD)

You can view and edit your data in the app and delete your account at any time in Profile → Settings → Delete my account. This erases your profile, posts, photos, comments, likes, chat messages, visited cafés, ranking and all other data linked to your account. Cafés you added stay on the map, without your name. For any other requests, get in touch with us.
